“If you’re looking for a recommendation for CCC then don’t read on, book up now, I’d throughly recommend both the company and the product. If you want to hear about our experience and some tips from a couple of campervan virgins then you might find the following useful.
My wife and I fancied seeing some of our own country instead of flying abroad and found CCC, one of very few campervan hire companies in Scotland. Smooth, easy booking process. Located conveniently immediately off the M74 at Hamilton we could have headed in any direction but decided to go north. Rusty at CCC was friendly, helpful and informative and within minutes of arriving we were on the open road.
The van itself was an absolute dream to drive, even fully loaded the van had plenty of power for hills and small enough to be manoeuvrable in camping sites and single track roads. The van is loaded with great features:
- Front seats swivel to face the rear,
- iPhone/Android link
- 2 usb connections
- Power socket
- Outdoor shower
- 2 ring cooker
- Heater (fantastic for us at it was freezing outside)
- Auto gearbox – really did make all the difference.
- Double bed – enough room for two and comfortable
- Plenty of internal lights for night time
- Remote heater operation
- Plus loads more
Rusty has put everything you need inside so all you really need to bring is yourself, some clothes and food. Duvet (including cover), pillows (inc cases), mattress protector, bottom sheet, towels, two comfy blankets, pots, pans, cutlery, dishes, cleaning things are all included. Picked the van up full of diesel so able to hit the road straight away. Filled it up locally in Hamilton on return.
Lots of storage in the van but don’t do what we did and overpacked. Remember it is like camping but in much more comfortable surroundings.
If you have booked then please have a look at the linked VW videos. They were really helpful to know where everything was and how the van operated, it also saves time when you pick it up although I’m sure Rusty will run through the important features as he did with us.
Overall a hugely enjoyable experience from being able to stop in some stunning locations, open the sliding door and prepare and meals in the great outdoors. Even driving it was a pleasure. We went up the west coast through Glencoe to Skye (Kinloch campsite at dunvegan) over to Loch Ness and Inverness and down to Cairngorm mountain near Aviemore (Glenmore campsite on the edge of Loch Morlich) then back down through Blair Atholl, Perth and Stirling. 620 very comfortable miles over 3 days, roughly £90 in fuel. We are booking again !!!”
